The Office of the Delta State Governor’s wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, in collaboration with the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (DEMSMEDA), has successfully held a three-day empowerment training program for women in the creative sector from rural communities throughout the state’s three senatorial districts.

This initiative marks the first in a series under the MORE CAP-UP project, designed to enhance entrepreneurial skills among grassroots women in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s inclusive economic development strategy.

During the opening ceremony, the First Lady, represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Hon. Pat Ajudua, encouraged the participants to fully engage in the training.

She emphasized that these specially selected women have a responsibility not only to improve their businesses but also to serve as role models within their communities.

Hon. Ajudua assured the participants of the state government’s ongoing support, highlighting that DEMSMEDA would be actively involved in monitoring and evaluating their progress.

She urged them to utilize their grants wisely and praised Dr. Godwin Adolor and his team for their effective management of the training sessions.

Dr. Godwin Adolor, the Executive Secretary of DEMSMEDA and lead facilitator, explained that the training focused on financial literacy and sustainability.

He underscored the importance of not only financial empowerment but also the value of skills and knowledge for achieving long-term business success.

He commended Deaconess Oborevwori’s dedication to supporting women in the state and encouraged participants to reflect this support through their commitment to becoming job creators.

Financial consultant Mr. Charles Ojakovo spoke on the significance of integrity, creativity, and resilience in managing successful businesses.

He advised participants to adhere to government regulations, avoid unapproved business locations, and be cautious with investments.

The training sessions took place at three locations: the Felix Ibru Secretariat in Asaba (Delta North), the Isoko South Council Secretariat in Oleh (Delta South), and Ughelli (Delta Central).

These sessions included interactive segments where participants exchanged experiences, raised questions, and addressed business challenges.

The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Governor’s wife and the state government for what they termed a transformative initiative.

Have Implicit Trust In Governor Oborevwori, Iduh Amadhe Charges Isoko Nation

The Grand Patron of Isoko Development Union (IDU), High Chief Iduh Amadhe has called on the people of Isoko Nation of Delta State to have what he called ‘Implicit’ trust in the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as he cannot turn his back on the various interests of the Isoko nationality being an integral part of the State.

Chief Iduh Amadhe made the call in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of the State while speaking with Journalists in reaction to recent misgivings over the exclusion of Isoko nation in the N230 billion approval of projects by the State Executive meeting (EXCO).

According to the former Chairman of Isoko South “There is no doubt that the Sheriff Oborewori’s administration mean well for the Isoko people because there is no way the MORE Agenda can be driven to its logical conclusion without the Isoko nation getting its fair share.

The Isoko people must note that this is not a yearly budgetary approval but State Executive Council meeting (EXCO) and there are still more of such EXCOs to be held by the Oborevwori’s government. And if Isoko is not accommodated by this EXCO, Isoko can be accommodated in the next.

“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to all aggrieved persons including those that have gone to court to sheath their swords and allow both the cultural leadership and the political class to handle all issues at stake through dialogue and lobbying. I must appeal to all Isoko sons and sundry never to put the horse before the cart. Where we are going to is better than where we are coming from”.

He also advised that the Isoko Nation should remain united, focused and to speak with one voice.

While acknowledging that the law allows the individual and groups to air their views, the immediate past President-General of IDU, recalled that during the tenure of Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, a similar scenario had played out in a particular budgetary allocation with an alleged 1% allocation to Isoko nation but after due consultation, interfacing and clarification, all issues were straightened out accordingly and resolved amicably.

Iduh Amadhe however noted that there are very visible signs that Governor Oborevwori’s administration has not turned his back on the people of Isoko nation in the past two years, as there is still large room to do more, adding that the Governor as an in-law to Isoko nation will never work to short change the place of origin of the First Lady, his wife and our daughter.

The IDU Grand Patron assured the people that he was confident that in another round of release of projects, the Isoko nation will certainly be duly accommodated because as a leading oil and gas producing ethnic nationality, Isoko cannot be undermined.

On the issue of the predicted looming flood, Chief Iduh enjoined the people to be proactive, carry out early harvest of crops and be preparing to relocate to higher grounds early enough, and called on the government to activate the relevant agencies to be on ground soonest to mitigate the impact of the perennial flooding as much as possible.

The Governor showcased the ongoing flyover projects and various developmental initiatives throughout the state as proof of his administration’s dedication to delivering tangible outcomes for the people. A wave of excitement and admiration swept through Warri, Effurun, and Udu as Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, conducted a site visit to assess key infrastructural projects, including the Udu Harbour Market, the Flyover at Enerhen Junction, and storm drainage systems.

The governor’s tour, part of his commitment to delivering quality and timely infrastructure under the MORE Agenda, was greeted with cheers from local residents, traders, and supporters.

Market women and community members gathered in large numbers to welcome and commend Oborevwori, whose administration is rapidly gaining a reputation for visible, people-focused development across the state.

Progress at the storm drainage system—aimed at flood prevention—and ongoing construction work on the flyover and the modernized market drew positive remarks from the governor.

He reiterated his government’s dedication to implementing projects that boost commerce, enhance connectivity, and improve the overall living standards of Deltans.

During the inspection, Oborevwori highlighted the significance of the Udu Harbour Market, which features 604 lock-up shops, 120 open stalls, a modern abattoir, and additional facilities.

He described the market as one of the largest in Delta State, emphasizing its potential to stimulate local economic activity and generate new revenue streams for residents.

“This market is a vital economic development. Once completed, it will bring lasting benefits to our people and invigorate local trade,” he stated.

The governor also pointed out that the ongoing projects—such as roads like Opete, Orhuwhorun, and Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh—demonstrate his administration’s commitment to comprehensive regional development.

Addressing concerns about marginalization, he assured residents that infrastructural investments are spread evenly across all senatorial districts and local government areas. “I am an Urhobo man, but my focus is on serving all Deltans,” he affirmed.

He further assured that all projects are fully financed, with no delays in contractor payments—a situation he contrasted with other parts of Nigeria. “In Delta, contractors are paid promptly; there are no outstanding dues. I urge all contractors to maintain high standards and meet deadlines,” he added.

The visit was met with enthusiastic applause from the people, who expressed confidence in the government’s developmental efforts.

Oborevwori pledged that additional projects would be launched across the state under his MORE Agenda.
