His Royal Majesty, Matthew Ediri Egbi, Owahwa II, Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, has conferred chieftaincy titles on three illustrious indigenes of Ughievwen Kingdom.

The chieftaincy title conferral was in recognition of their immense contributions to the development of the kingdom and humanity.

The ceremony, held at the palace grounds of Ughievwen Kingdom, was attended by the chairman of Udu Local Government, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, and other prominent dignitaries from within and outside Nigeria.

Those conferred with chieftaincy titles by the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom include Chief Onos Gasper Ighwre, who was named Ohwojero of Ughievwen Kingdom; his wife, Chief Mrs. Johanna Sogalla, who received the title of Ochucko-Ohwojero of the Kingdom; and Chief Mrs. Rita Osifo, who was awarded the title of Ochucko-Oboroghene of Ughievwen Kingdom.

The Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, while conferring the titles on the new chiefs, expressed his delight at seeing the culture of Ughievwen Kingdom being embraced and revived by the younger generation.

However, he warned the new chiefs against engaging in acts that would bring the name of the kingdom into disrepute.

While stating that chieftaincy in Ughievwen Kingdom is devoid of any fetish practices, Owahwa II admonished the chiefs to avoid any actions that contradict biblical teachings, noting that the Bible presented to them remains the only guide for chieftaincy in the kingdom.

The monarch also urged the chiefs to be hardworking and not to use their titles to oppress the poor among them, nor to contravene the laws governing chieftaincy in the kingdom, warning that anyone found indulging in unholy acts would be stripped of their title.

The chairman of Udu Local Government, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, took the opportunity to appeal to the indigenes of the kingdom to rally around Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, whom he described as a Godsend to the state.

In an interview, some of the chiefs commended the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom for the recognition, promising not to disappoint the kingdom.

To conclude the event, the popular Udje of Ughievwen Kingdom performed to add excitement to the chieftaincy celebration.
