…As Okobaro Commends Oborevwori on Cordial Relationship with Monarchs
By Sunday Apah
His Royal Majesty, Matthew Ediri Egbi, Owahwa II, Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, has conferred on Olorogun Ogheneruemu Evuetapha the prestigious title of ‘Izomo.’
The monarch, in a chat with journalists after the conferment ceremony at Otughievwen (Otu-Jeremi), headquarters of Ughelli South Local Government Area in Delta State, commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his cordial relationship with monarchs across the state.
The revered monarch also called on titleholders within the kingdom to view their conferment as a call to duty rather than as a tool to oppress the poor among them.
While conferring the chieftaincy title of Izomo of Ughievwen, meaning “great son,” on Prince Ogheneruemu Evuetapha, the Okobaro disclosed that the title, which is very precious to the kingdom, was bestowed upon Chief Evuetapha after he was found worthy and cleared by the palace Chieftaincy Screening Committee.
The Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom noted that Chief Evuetapha has only renewed the title of his late father, who held the title of Izomo until his demise.
The monarch, while reminding Chief Evuetapha of the enormous responsibilities associated with the title, urged him to be humble and remain a good ambassador of the kingdom.
The Okobaro praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his visible developmental strides across the three senatorial districts of the state and called on the Ughievwen people to fully support the Governor in his quest to deliver infrastructural development to all parts of the state.
The President General of Ughievwen Kingdom, Chief Patrick Wheleke on his part, advised Chief Evuetapha to uphold the title of Izomo with pride and to avoid actions that could bring the title into disrepute.
Chief Wheleke also appealed to the people of Ughievwen to maintain the prevailing peace in the kingdom in order to attract further development.
In an interview, Chief Ogheneruemu Evuetapha thanked the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom for the honor bestowed upon him and assured that he is ready to contribute positively to the development of Ughievwen Kingdom.
The Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, Ovie of Agbarha-Otor Kingdom, Ovie of Arhavwarien Kingdom, and other notable personalities attended the ceremony.
