Olorogun Austin Emaduku, for whom the youth leaders of the 32 communities in Udu Kingdom purchased a form for to contest for the President General seat of Union of Udu Communities, has withdrawn from the race.
He stated that his decision to withdraw from the race was as a result of letter from the state government, directing all members of the caretaker committee and the two rival President Generals (Chiefs Austin Emaduku and Moses Uparan) shall not be allowed to run for any office in the upcoming election.
According to him, “After careful reflection on the content of the letter and its noble intentions, I have decided to comply with the directive of the government.
“As you are well aware, I am a firm advocate for positive peace, development, and unity. I strongly believe that the progress of Udu Kingdom hinges on fostering healing, reconciliation, and inclusivity for all.
“In line with this belief, I previously took steps to build confidence and address lingering concerns from the past before the government first intervened in the UUC leadership matter in October 2024.
“It is hoped that these steps would help bolster trust and unity in our Kingdom. In compliance with this recent directive, therefore, I have asked that all documents submitted on my behalf, including the nomination form purchased for this cause, be withdrawn.
“I extend my congratulations in advance to those who will emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections. I pledge my unwavering support to their administration, and I remain committed to contributing towards the growth and development of Udu Kingdom in whatever capacity I can.
“I want to thank the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sherriff Oborevwori, for his interest in ensuring peace and stability in Udu Kingdom. I also want to appreciate our revered father, the Ovie of Udu Kingdom, HRM Owhoru 1, for his fatherly love and compassion. It is my wish that, together, Udu Kingdom will continue to thrive in unity and progress”, he added.
