Last night, Delta State’s Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, received high praise as he was awarded the “Governor of the Year 2024” by ThisDay Newspaper and Arise Television, recognizing his outstanding fiscal management and significant infrastructure initiatives within the state.
During the award announcement, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, the founder of THISDAY and ARISE Media Group, highlighted his underestimation in the early stages of his governance, pointing out that over the past 18 months, Governor Oborevwori has not taken on any loans while continuing to invest in the state’s infrastructure.
Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Commonwealth Secretary-General, presented the award on behalf of the media organization and commended Governor Oborevwori for his impressive achievements, labeling him a notable success in governance.
Accepting the accolade at a prestigious ceremony held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, Governor Oborevwori dedicated the honor to God and the citizens of Delta State for their unwavering support.
The Governor shared the spotlight with fellow awardees, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Umo Eno of Akwa-Ibom, and Uba Sani of Kaduna State, stating that this recognition will motivate him to elevate his service to the people of Delta in the future.
He expressed: “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to THISDAY and ARISE Media Group as they celebrate their 30th and 12th anniversaries respectively.
