Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Ibru family of Agbarha-Otor in Ughelli North Local Government Area following the passing of Mrs. Edna Ibru, a beloved wife and mother.
Mrs. Ibru, who was married to the late Olorogun Senator Felix Ovuodoroye Ibru—the first Executive Governor of Delta State—reportedly passed away in London after a brief illness.
A former Miss Nigeria in 1964, Mrs. Ibru’s death occurred on Wednesday, leaving a significant void for her family and community.
In a statement from the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori expressed his sorrow at the loss of Mrs. Ibru, highlighting her role as a devoted wife and mother who stood by her family in all their noble endeavors.
“On behalf of the government and the people of Delta State, I mourn the loss of a remarkable woman, Mrs. Edna Ibru—a caring mother and loving wife,” he said.
“The news of her passing has come as a shock, especially during this time when her family needs her motherly wisdom and guidance the most.
“She was a woman of great faith who dedicated her time to supporting her husband’s political journey, which ultimately led to his election as Delta State’s first Executive Governor.”
Governor Oborevwori offered prayers for the eternal rest of Mrs. Ibru and asked for strength and comfort for her family and friends as they navigate this profound loss.
