The President General of Emokhueme Community, High Chief Alex Alegieuno Omiogbemi, has been honoured with the traditional title of ‘Oghenazogie of Uwanno Kingdom’ in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The ceremony was officiated by His Royal Majesty, HRH Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor, OON JP, the Okumagbe of Uwanno Kingdom.
While conferring the title, which means “It is God alone who chooses a king,” HRH Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor stated that the recipient can now be addressed as Senior High Chief Alegieuno Omiogbemi.
He added that Omiogbemi was honoured because of his unwavering commitment and visionary leadership; as such, he has been a beacon of peace and prosperity for the kingdom.
“His elevation to Oghenazogie is a testament to his exemplary service and the trust our community places in his leadership.”
“The new title is a step up from his previous role as High Chief, where he was known as ‘The Apeakhuye of Uwanno Kingdom’ — ‘The Man That Brings Peace & Wealth Home.'”
“This earlier title highlighted his influential role in fostering peace and prosperity within the community, attributes that have defined his leadership style.”
“As the President General of Emokhueme Community, High Chief Alex Alegieuno Omiogbemi’s innovative leadership has inaugurated the Emokhueme Education Trust Fund, designed to ensure that every community free-born has access to education.”
“A Board of Trustees (BOT) is being put together to manage the trust, chaired by the Ezomo of Uwanno Kingdom, Dr. (Engr.) Sir Kess Omiogbemi, and vice-chaired by Royal Prince Fidelis Ayiabe, the Executive Chairman/MD of Fidson Pharmaceuticals and an indigene of the Emokhueme community.”
The event witnessed cultural performances and a display of Uwanno’s rich heritage. It was attended by various dignitaries, community leaders, family members, and residents who came to celebrate one of their leaders.
The Oliha of Uwanno Kingdom, Prof. Mike Ozekhome SAN; the Ezomo of Uwanno Kingdom, Dr. (Engr.) Sir Kess Omiogbemi and his wife, Yeye-Ezomo (Lady) Eunice Omiogbemi; the Iyaste of Uwanno Kingdom, Senator Alimikhena; Mr. Aje Effiong; Prince Greg Nduka; SHC Innocent Iyere; National Executive of NUPENG, and others also attended the ceremony.
