Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, urged Nigerians on Wednesday to show unwavering commitment to the welfare of widows and families of the nation’s fallen heroes.

The Governor made this heartfelt appeal while addressing journalists after attending the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph in Asaba, the state capital.

During the event, Governor Oborevwori led a group of high-ranking government officials, military personnel, and paramilitary members in laying wreaths to honor the sacrifices made by the country’s Armed Forces.

He emphasized the importance of this day as a moment to remember and pay tribute to those who have served valiantly.

“This day serves as an annual reminder of our fallen heroes. My prayer is that God grants their souls eternal rest and provides comfort to their families,” the Governor stated.

He reassured the families of the deceased military personnel that their sacrifices would not be forgotten. “I want to assure them that they will never be overlooked. We will continue to support the widows and others affected by these losses,” he affirmed.

Governor Oborevwori encouraged the public by stating, “This shows that Nigeria cares, and our people care. I urge them to remain steadfast in their commitment to our country.”

The ceremony culminated in the laying of wreaths by the Governor, along with other dignitaries, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, military commanders, and the Commissioner of Police.
