Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged couples to prioritize unity, understanding, and perseverance in their marriages.

The governor delivered this message during his speech at the wedding of Charity and Andrew Alagbogha, held at the Mountain of Fire Ministries, Region 56, Ekpan, in the Uvwie Local Government Area on Saturday.

While extending his congratulations to the newlyweds and to Hon. Godknows Angele, the Commissioner for Housing and father of the bride, Governor Oborevwori highlighted the significance of steadfastness in marriage and encouraged the couple to nurture their bond.

He stated, “The essence of marriage lies in unity, understanding, and perseverance. The scriptures remind us that one plus one equals one; you are now one entity. Nothing should come between you.

“My prayer is for God’s blessings to sustain your marriage. I hope that by this time next year, we will be gathering again to celebrate the dedication of your baby.”

Oborevwori emphasized that marriage is a continuous journey of learning rather than a destination. “There are no degrees in marriage; it is an experience from which you gain wisdom daily.

“Whatever you encounter on this journey, make it a point to pray together. I appreciate your support for this administration, and I pray that 2025 brings even more blessings than this year, in Jesus’ name.”

Pastor Wilson Nwanne, who officiated the ceremony, shared insights on the purpose of marriage as a foundation for procreation and companionship. He noted that God blesses marriages and grants favor to couples who treat each other with kindness and respect, ensuring harmony in their relationship.

He advised the couple that true love and companionship come through a real understanding of Christ and encouraged them to deepen their faith.

The wedding was also attended by several dignitaries, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, and other prominent government officials.
