Yuletide: Oborevwori Aide Empowers Women, Youths with Cash, Rice Worth Millions of Naira

The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Students Affairs, Comrade Dr. Ezekiel Oghenetega Okoh, has empowered over 500 persons with cash and over one hundred and twenty five 10 kg bags of rice, valued at millions of naira, for the people of Edjophe Community and Ughelli South Ward 8.

Dr. Okoh, speaking during the empowerment programme, emphasized that the initiative aimed to alleviate the economic hardships faced by the communities during this festive season.

He noted that this empowerment effort is part of his signature project, the Women and Youth Support Empowerment Programme (WAYSEP).

According to him, “This programme is the first initiative under WAYSEP and took place in Edjophe Community, where members of the communities making up the ward, also known as Jeremi Ward 1, along with dignitaries, celebrated and supported the initiative, which they believe will foster economic growth and self-sufficiency.”

The youthful aide highlighted that “the significance of this programme is rooted in his commitment to supporting women and youth in their various business endeavors which is part of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R E Agenda.

“This initiative provides the necessary resources and guidance to help them thrive despite the economic challenges we face,” he stated.

He praised the ongoing developmental strides under the leadership of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, describing Delta State as “a construction site.”

Dr. Oghenetega commended the Governor’s efforts in transforming the state through the continuous construction and rehabilitation of roads, bridges, and other essential infrastructure.

In his address, the chairman of the occasion, Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, Executive Director, Projects at DESOPADEC, commended the Governor for his visionary leadership and the impactful initiatives being implemented through the MORE agenda.

He recognized Dr. Oghenetega’s appointment as a well-deserved acknowledgment of his dedication and encouraged the youth of Jeremi Ward 1 to view him as a role model.

The event was attended by notable personalities, including local government officials and leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at both the ward and local government levels.

Prominent figures at the gathering included the Chairman of the Local Government Area, Dr. Lucky Avweromre, represented by Chief John Ewenode, as well as Hon. Christopher Potokri, Comr. Francis Agbinone Omovigho, Hon. Harriet Okoro, and Hon. Favour Ejovwo, among others.

A highlight of the ceremony was the official inauguration of the Women and Youth Support Empowerment Programme (WAYSEP), aimed at empowering the women and youth of Ughelli South Local Government Area, specifically Ward 8 (Jeremi Ward 1).
