His Royal Majesty, Dr. Matthew Ediri Egbi, Owawha II, Okobaro of the Ancient Ughievwen Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, has strongly condemned the gruesome murder of Mr. Paul Okon, perpetrated by his friend and other accomplices in Otukutu town.
In his reaction to the incident, the monarch expressed his shock that such a heinous act could occur within the Ughievwen kingdom, a kingdom renowned for its humane and peace-loving nature.
He emphasized that there has been no recognition of any deity in Ughievwen land, either today or in the recent past, that condones or contemplates human sacrifice.
The monarch stated that both the Royal Palace and the people of Ughievwen Kingdom unequivocally denounce this shocking murder, which he characterized as a desecration of Otukutu land and the Ughievwen kingdom in general.
He commended the Delta State Commissioner of Police and his officers for their effective efforts in apprehending those responsible for this wicked act.
The monarch called for a swift and thorough investigation and prosecution of anyone found culpable by law enforcement.
Furthermore, he urged the indigenes of Ughievwen to embrace the rich cultural values upheld by their founding fathers, emphasizing the importance of avoiding covetousness and the pursuit of ill-gotten wealth.
He also encouraged all Ughievwen sons and daughters to be good ambassadors of the kingdom and to promptly report any suspicious activities or individuals that could bring disrepute to Ughievwen to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
The respected monarch extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Paul Okon, praying that God grant them the strength to endure this difficult time.
