Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, announced on Monday that his administration plans to launch a robust empowerment initiative for widows in 2025.
The governor made this announcement while delivering a sermon at a Widows’ Empowerment Forum, organized by Apostle Chris Eruemulor, the founder of Calvary World Outreach, in Boji-Boji Owa, located in Ika North East Local Government Area.
Drawing from Deuteronomy 16:11-14, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the significance of providing support to widows, noting that they hold a special place in God’s heart.
He highlighted that caring for widows aligns with divine values and is a key focus of his administration’s agenda.
In his address, the governor encouraged the women to embrace their faith in Christ, remain virtuous, and avoid any actions that could undermine their dignity within society.
He stated that the Christmas season is a time for celebrating the birth of Christ and noted that supporting widows is a commendable endeavor.
Governor Oborevwori urged the widows to place their trust in God, maintain a pure heart, and navigate life with grace.
He also acknowledged the prayers of widows as instrumental in his rise to the governorship and encouraged them to continue praying for his administration’s success.
He congratulated Apostle Eruemulor for his ongoing efforts in distributing food items to widows each year and extended his warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the attendees.
Earlier in the event, Apostle Eruemulor shared that the celebration stems from a divine directive to bring joy to widows annually.
He assured the women of his commitment to sustaining this initiative and encouraged them to regard Christ as their closest ally.
