The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Hon. Raymond Edijala, has called upon all Urhobo sons and daughters—both at home and abroad—to attend the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Day, scheduled to be held on December 7, 2024, at Uvwiamuge in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
Edijala, who made this announcement on Wednesday, emphasized the importance of massive attendance at the event to welcome their esteemed son, Governor Oborevwori, to the Urhobo nation.
He stated that this occasion represents a time for solidarity and pride in our community.
“The governor, who has already made strides in his administration, represents a source of pride for the Urhobo people. His journey to the governorship has been filled with challenges, but I urge everyone to put the past behind us and join forces to build a united Delta State.
“The governor’s administration has begun on a positive note, executing significant projects that benefit the entire region. Under his leadership, the state has seen the construction of overhead bridges in Effurun, major road construction projects, and empowerment and skill-building programs. Additionally, we have health initiatives aimed at improving community well-being, efforts to mend relationships across Delta State, the development of water schemes, and the rehabilitation of primary schools, among other initiatives.”
Edijala acknowledges that the transition to a new government is fraught with difficulties. However, he expresses confidence that, with time and collective support, Governor Oborevwori will bring happiness and progress to all Urhobo people.
“The call to action is clear: a strong turnout at the UPU Day event will serve as a powerful statement of support, demonstrating that the Urhobo community stands firmly behind their leader.
“Let us come together to show our unity and commitment to a brighter future for Delta State,” he added.
