The first lady of Delta State, Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, has stated that she will support initiatives focused on promoting gender equity and development throughout the state.
Mrs. Oborevwori made this known when the Delta State University of Science and Technology (DSUST) in Ozoro awarded her the distinguished title of honorary ambassador.
She emphasized that the initiative aligns with her husband’s vision of empowering women and girls, as well as fostering overall development in Delta State.
The prestigious award was presented to Mrs. Oborevwori on Tuesday at the university’s main campus, located in the Isoko North Local Government Area.
This recognition highlights her exemplary contributions to charity, women’s development, and the empowerment of young girls.
The honor was facilitated by the university’s Directorate of Gender and Development Studies and presented by Dr. Justina Oboreh.
During the award ceremony, Prof. Jacob Oboreh, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his continuous support, stating that plans are in place to introduce additional programs aimed at enhancing the university’s offerings.
In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Oborevwori expressed her appreciation for the recognition and affirmed her commitment to supporting the emerging institution.
Represented by Mrs. Catherine Onyeme, the Deputy Governor’s wife, she voiced her endorsement of initiatives focused on promoting gender equity and development throughout the state.
“This initiative aligns with my husband, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s vision of empowering women and girls, as well as fostering overall development in our state.”
“I urge everyone to back the More Agenda of the Oborevwori administration to help him fulfill his commitments to our community,” she concluded.
