Late Prof. Utuama Was Not Only Reliable, Dependable, but Also a Compassionate Listener – Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, visited the family of the late Professor Amos Agbe Utuama, SAN, former Deputy Governor of the state, on Saturday to extend his condolences.

During his visit to Utuama’s residence in Ikede Heights, Udu Local Government Area, Governor Oborevwori paid tribute to the esteemed legal scholar, recognizing his significant contributions to the state and the nation.

The Governor described Professor Utuama as a dependable political leader whose unwavering commitment and dedication will be profoundly missed.

While expressing his sympathies to the bereaved family, Governor Oborevwori assured them of the government’s support in organizing the late elder statesman’s funeral.

He stated, “I was deeply shocked to hear about Professor Amos Agbe Utuama’s passing. Upon assuming office, I was aware of his health struggles. Despite our best efforts, including those of his family, we must accept that we cannot question God’s timing.

“We are here today to stand in solidarity with the people of Ughelli South and the Utuama family in their time of loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you, the residents of Ughelli South, and all Deltans.

“As the former Deputy Governor of our state, it is essential for us to acknowledge his legacy. My presence today reflects both my role as Governor of Delta State and the personal relationship I shared with him.

“I want to reassure you that the state will support your family during this challenging time. The loss of such a remarkable political figure affects us all deeply.

“Professor Utuama was not only reliable and dependable, but also a compassionate listener, as many who knew him can attest.

“We are committed to being by your side during this sorrowful period, and once again, we extend our heartfelt condolences. May God’s grace grant his soul eternal peace.”

Responding on behalf of the family, his daughter, Barr. Fejiro Smooth, expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for his support throughout her father’s illness.

“Your Excellency, we are sincerely thankful for your assistance. This has been an incredibly challenging time for our family, especially after the recent loss of our mother.

“Sadly, my father passed away last week despite our collective efforts. We are truly grateful for your approval for his medical treatment and the financial and emotional support you provided, which greatly eased our burden during this period.

“It is comforting to know that we were not alone in this struggle. The backing from the Delta State Government allowed us to provide the best possible care for him.

“On behalf of our family, we extend our profound thanks to you, Your Excellency. We also appreciate the presence of state officials and all those who have prayed for us and offered their support. May God bless you as well.

“Your ongoing support, as you have promised, means the world to us. We appreciate your presence here today and everything you have done, and we have faith in your continued assistance as we prepare for the funeral.”
