Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian Army following the passing of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori extended his sympathies to the family of the late General, who passed away at the age of 56 on Tuesday.
He also reached out to President Bola Tinubu and the military leadership during this difficult time.
Governor Oborevwori highlighted the significant impact that Gen. Lagbaja had on the Nigerian Army, noting that his legacy of dedication and service will be deeply missed.
“On behalf of the government and the people of Delta State, I extend my condolences to the family of Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, as well as to the Nigerian Army and President Bola Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,” he stated.
He reflected on the late General’s remarkable qualities, stating, “Gen. Lagbaja was an exceptional officer whose selfless contributions to our nation will always be remembered.
“I fondly recall my interactions with him during the Okuama tragedy; he exhibited profound insight, strategic brilliance, and unwavering patriotism.
“His calm demeanor in times of crisis provided much-needed inspiration.”
Governor Oborevwori concluded with a prayer for the eternal peace of Gen. Lagbaja’s soul.
