Why Tinubu Appoints Oluyede as Acting Chief of Army Staff

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede to serve as the acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

This announcement was made on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, the president’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

Onanuga noted that Major General Oluyede will fulfill the duties of COAS until the return of the substantive Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, who is currently receiving treatment overseas.

In the official statement, it was confirmed: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has appointed Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as the acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Oluyede will serve in this capacity while awaiting the return of the indisposed Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.”
