Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended heartfelt condolences to the family of a pupil who tragically lost his life in a recent building collapse at Eghereka Primary School in Ewu Town, Ughelli South Local Government Area.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori described the occurrence as deeply regrettable.
He detailed that the incident involved the collapse of an unroofed block of six classrooms, which had been unused for over a decade.
Reports indicate that the dilapidated structure gave way during heavy rainfall, resulting in the death of a primary two student, Ojiyovwin Salvation, while three other pupils sustained injuries.
The Governor expressed his condolences to the grieving family, the school staff, and the other injured students.
He commended the swift response efforts that facilitated the prompt rescue of the affected pupils.
Furthermore, he noted that Local Government Council Chairman, Dr. Lucky Avweromre, visited the scene to assess the situation and provide necessary assistance to the survivors and the family of the deceased.
Governor Oborevwori acknowledged that no words could sufficiently ease the pain of the bereaved family.
He prayed for strength and comfort for them, as well as for the school and the wider community during this challenging time.
