Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 64th Independence Day, urging citizens to unite in overcoming the current economic and security issues.
In a statement issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the importance of collaboration among Nigerians, regardless of their political, religious, or ethnic backgrounds, to address the nation’s pressing concerns.
The Governor conveyed his best wishes to President Bola Tinubu, fellow Delta residents, and all Nigerians during this significant anniversary, encouraging citizens to support the government’s initiatives aimed at tackling insecurity and economic challenges.
“On behalf of the Delta State Government and its people, I warmly congratulate all Nigerians as we mark our 64th Independence anniversary,” Governor Oborevwori stated.
“We are fortunate to have enjoyed consistent democracy since 1999, and it is essential that we continue to build on the achievements of the past 25 years of democratic governance.”
He added, “October 1st is not only a day of celebration but also a time to honor those who sacrificed for our freedom. We must always remember the contributions of our national heroes.”
Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey, he remarked, “At 64, our nation has made tremendous progress, even amid various economic and security challenges.
“It is crucial for us to remain resilient, exercise patience, and maintain faith in both God and our leaders during these testing times.”
Governor Oborevwori also highlighted the strides made under his administration since he took office on May 29, 2023, particularly through the implementation of the MORE Agenda, which aims to improve the quality of life for Deltans.
“As we commemorate this Independence anniversary, I assure you of our commitment to advancing the M.O.R.E Agenda for the benefit of the people of Delta State.”
