As Nigeria gears up to mark its 64th independence anniversary, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged citizens to engage in heartfelt prayers for the nation’s enduring peace and unity.
The governor delivered this message during a special Jumat service held at the Central Mosque in Cable Point, Asaba, where a large gathering of Muslim devotees came together to pray for the country’s well-being.
He was represented by Alhaji Auwal Tukur, the Chairman of the Delta State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Governor Oborevwori acknowledged the challenging times Nigeria faces, expressing hope that collective prayers can lead to overcoming the current difficulties.
He emphasized his administration’s commitment to alleviating hardships through the diligent implementation of people-centric policies aligned with his MORE Agenda for the residents of Delta State.
Highlighting the critical role of peace, he encouraged citizens to foster harmonious coexistence, which is essential for the sustained growth and development of the state.
“I urge all Nigerians to pray for our beloved country. We are aware of the tough circumstances we face, but I firmly believe that with prayer, we can navigate through these hardships.
“We must continue to embrace our unity as one Nigeria, promoting peaceful relations among our diverse ethnic groups to accelerate the socio-economic progress of our state and the nation at large,” the governor stated.
During the Jumat service, Chief Imam of Asaba, Alhaji Umaru Aliyu Katsina, emphasized the significance of peace and prayed for Allah’s guidance in ensuring lasting peace and a thriving economy that will provide relief to all Nigerians, as conveyed by his interpreter, Hon. Bawa Abdullahi.
