The Delta State House of Assembly’s Committee on Works and Special Projects conducted inspections on Friday to evaluate ongoing infrastructure developments in Isoko North and South local government areas, as part of their legislative oversight responsibilities.
Chairman of the committee, Hon. Oboro Kenneth Preyor, expressed his contentment with the Oborevwori administration’s dedication to advancing road projects in rural areas of the state.
He was joined by committee members including Hon. Emmanuel Sinebe, Ferguson Onwo, Edafe Emakpor, Bridget Anyafulu, and Ebitonmo Alapala, along with representatives from the State Ministry of Works.
The team surveyed significant projects in Isoko, notably the total reconstruction of the Ellu-Ovrode-Ofagbe-Orieriri-Okpe Isoko-Ada-Irri road, spanning 24 kilometers, which serves as a vital connection between communities in Isoko North and South.
Additionally, they visited the construction sites of the 2.1-kilometer Phase I and the 5.43-kilometer Phase III of the Okpolo-Enwhe-Uwheru road in Isoko South local government area.
Chairman Oboro Preyor reiterated the commitment of the 8th Delta Assembly to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities with integrity and impartiality.
He emphasized the committee’s unwavering support for Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in his mission to foster holistic development in the state.
Highlighting the importance of road infrastructure to the PDP-led administration’s MORE agenda, Preyor underscored the necessity for timely completion of governmental projects.
He noted that developing rural roadways is pivotal to enhancing grassroots accessibility and development, commending Governor Oborevwori for investing in these essential infrastructures.
Representing the Bomadi Constituency, Preyor assured the Isoko community of further dividends of democracy, reaffirming the Governor’s commitment to providing Deltans with superior governance and development initiatives.
He praised Oborevwori for his adherence to campaign commitments and urged contractors engaged in state projects to follow approved designs and specifications closely, while also emphasizing the importance of meeting designated timelines.
Preyor encouraged local communities involved in development projects to collaborate with both the government and contractors to ensure smooth project execution and urged them to maintain completed projects as a gesture of gratitude to the government.
Hon. Ferguson Onwo, another committee member and representative for Isoko South 2, commended the state government for undertaking substantial road projects in Isoko, which he believes will significantly benefit the local population.
The committee’s oversight inspections of ongoing projects throughout the state are set to continue.
