Olorogun Solomon Okporua Ighrakpata, the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service, has reiterated his pledge to enhance the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR).

During a recent courtesy visit from representatives of the Nigeria Customs Service at the revenue headquarters in Warri, Ighrakpata emphasized the importance of collaboration to strengthen taxation processes and stimulate the state’s economic growth.

Welcoming Nneka Dureka, the Customs Area Comptroller for Delta and Edo zones, Ighrakpata expressed his eagerness to work together with the Customs Service to identify new revenue avenues and optimize tax collection efforts.

He stressed that effective revenue collection is crucial for funding government initiatives and social programs that directly benefit the citizens of Delta State.

“I want to highlight the Governor’s dedication to promoting economic development within the state,” Ighrakpata stated.

“Governor Oborevwori has made significant progress in delivering democratic dividends and advancing infrastructural development for the benefit of Deltans.”

He added, “His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is prepared to collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service to advance his M.O.R.E. Agenda, focusing on economic growth. We are committed to working together for effective taxation.”

Ighrakpata’s proactive stance on revenue generation aligns closely with the governor’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, aimed at realizing a brighter future for Delta State residents.

During her remarks, Nneka Dureka emphasized the necessity for collaboration among stakeholders and security agencies to ensure sustainable development.

She noted that the purpose of her visit was to explore partnership opportunities that would enhance community development and stimulate economic growth.

Dureka also raised concerns about the blockage of waterways leading to the Nigerian port in Warri, emphasizing its impact on trade and revenue.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to partnership and efficient revenue collection efforts in the state.

This visit marks a significant step forward in the Delta State Internal Revenue Service’s pursuit of stronger collaboration with key stakeholders, essential for boosting the state’s IGR.

With partnerships like that with the Nigeria Customs Service, the Internal Revenue Service is poised to drive Delta State’s growth and development to new heights.
