The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Special Projects expressed its dedication on Thursday to partner with Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to ensure that all ongoing infrastructure projects in the state are completed efficiently and on time.
During the first day of a comprehensive three-week oversight tour of significant road, bridge, and drainage initiatives across the state’s three senatorial districts, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Oboro Kenneth Preyor, reaffirmed this commitment.
The legislators examined several key projects, including the Ughelli-Ozoro-Kwale-Asaba dualization road, the gully control project in Ogwashi-Uku, and the Kwale-Beneku road and bridge project in Ndokwa West Local Government Area.
Hon. Preyor, along with fellow committee members—Hon. Emmanuel Sinebe, James Augoye, Ferguson Onwo, Edafe Emakpor, Bridget Anyafulu, and Ebitonmo Alapala—emphasized the importance of ensuring that contractors adhere to high standards and complete projects within the designated timelines.
Representing the Bomadi State Constituency and serving as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Special Bills, Preyor highlighted the oversight visits as a vital constitutional responsibility that aligns with the global standards of transparency and accountability promoted by Governor Oborevwori’s administration.
The legislator underscored the necessity of delivering value for money in all state projects, asserting that the Delta State Assembly would collaborate with pertinent stakeholders to ensure cost-effective execution without compromising quality.
He urged contractors to comply with approved designs and specifications to guarantee the long-term durability of the infrastructure.
Chairman Preyor also called on residents to take an active role in maintaining public projects and to support the Governor’s MORE agenda for development.
He assured the citizens that the 8th Delta State Assembly, led by Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, is committed to using state resources judiciously to meet the needs of Deltans while encouraging continued support for Governor Oborevwori’s efforts toward comprehensive state development.
Preyor expressed optimism regarding the imminent completion of the Kwale-Beneku bridge, noting its potential positive impact on local welfare and economic activities.
He praised Governor Oborevwori for consistently funding ongoing projects and ensuring timely payments to contractors.
At Sector A of the dualization project, the Committee Chairman commended the construction firm for adhering to specifications and for its commitment to completing the project by June 2025.
Preyor also expressed gratitude towards the indigenous construction company responsible for the Kwale-Beneku bridge and urged the Ministry of Works and the contractors engaged in sectors C1 and C2 of the dualization project to prioritize quality finishing and timely completion.
The Committee’s oversight inspections of ongoing projects across the three senatorial districts will continue.
