Gunmen Kidnap Over 20 Medical Students in Benue State

In a troubling incident, armed assailants have abducted more than 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, in Benue State.

The students were on their way to the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) in Enugu when they were ambushed around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area.

They were reportedly from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos.

Spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the abduction and stated that an investigation is currently underway.

“Yes, the report of the kidnapping is accurate. We received the information between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and we are actively investigating the matter,” she said.
